Offerings

Note: The NJIETA project will provide services during the 2022-23 school year either in person, hybrid, or virtually depending on the district’s request.

The NJIETA project was established to promote and support the development of inclusive schools and inclusive practices. There are three focal areas supported by this project: the Inclusion Leadership Development Group, Technical Assistance to Schools, and Inclusive Schools Systemic Change Process.

School and district administrators may apply to engage their schools/districts in one or all three areas of work. The initial decision period will be conducted annually in the spring, and the NJIETA team will evaluate and approve candidates on a fixed basis. Should spots remain open, candidates will be selected on a rolling basis.

Inclusion Leadership Development Group

The Inclusion Leadership Development Group (ILDG) consists of two distinct parts: Quarterly Group meetings and two Inclusion Leadership Conferences which are held in the spring and early summer. Registration for the spring conferences will be announced separately through DOE/MSU/NJCIE broadcasts.

The Inclusion Leadership Development Group will hold a series of meetings annually. At each meeting, training and information on best practices in inclusive education will be provided for administrators. Administrators will also work collaboratively to address systemic challenges to inclusion and develop actionable items for districts across the state.

The application period for the ILDG is now closed.

Technical Assistance to Schools on Inclusive Education

Apply by April 29, 2022.

Systemic Change Facilitation

Systemic Change Facilitation is the most intensive of the three offerings. Given the long-term commitment from both the district and the NJIETA team, only a select number of districts will be chosen per year.

The process is a three-to-five-year commitment to becoming a more inclusive school. Our team members will provide on and off-site support through strategic planning meetings, training, coaching, and consultation. Each school will develop or utilize an existing team that will drive the implementation of best practices in inclusion. This team will meet monthly with an Inclusion Facilitator who will work with the team to identify and implement best practices.

The change process is a more intensive effort with ongoing support provided. There will be a readiness check conducted before admission to ensure that schools are committed to change and sufficient support exists.
